Scope of Works

The renovation included:

• Full demolition and rebuild of the rear portion of the semi-detached home
• Construction of a two and a half level extension
• Structural modifications to integrate the new extension with the existing dwelling
• Complete internal renovation of the original front section
• Creation of open-plan kitchen, dining, and living zones
• Installation of new windows and glazing to maximise light and views
• Coordination of all trades to ensure structural compliance and high-quality finishes

This project required careful planning to maximise space and light while working within the constraints of a narrow inner-city block.

Client Brief

The clients wanted to modernise and expand their home by:

• Rebuilding the entire rear of the property across two and a half levels
• Creating a large open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area
• Introducing more natural light through large windows and openings
• Improving indoor-outdoor connection to the backyard and upper levels

The original home was limited in space and did not take advantage of its outlook or site potential.

Structural & Design Considerations

Given the scale of the extension, structural works were a major component of this project.

• The rear of the home was fully demolished and reconstructed
• New structural systems were designed to support multiple levels
• Large openings were introduced to enhance light and outlook
• Structural integration between old and new sections was engineered for long-term stability
• All works were completed in accordance with current building standards and regulations

This approach resulted in a contemporary, light-filled home that dramatically increased both space and functionality.
